Why the new Portra 400 film makes sense
It’s far easier and cheaper to make one film stock than two very separate stocks that are actually offering the same exact thing (skin tones) with the only differences in color saturation and contrast. So why not make one stock perform well enough for you to get the same end result as NC and VC?
The chart at Kodak details that the new film will feature NC’s famed contrast whereas...

Kodak discontinues 400nc & 400vc →

replaces them both with “portra 400”.
basically the opposite of what i wanted to happen.
We’ll live on. If the contrast is the same as NC it shouldn’t be hard at all to bring the color saturation down. I’m not too worried.
